Although we tend to call cameras of this nature ‘drones’, the Hover Camera from Beijing start-up Zero Zero Robotics is pretty much a flying selfie stick.
The flying camera hovers using propellers that are hidden by the casing; however, the propellers unfold to display its wings.
What’s more, the hovering camera doesn’t require that you actually control it. Instead, it will follow you as you embark on your selfie filled journeys. Using optical and sonar sensors, the camera is able to keep itself steadied and in position, while a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor (used in the HTC One M8 and Samsung Galaxy S5) runs advanced proprietary computer vision and artificial intelligence systems to assess where the faces and bodies of the individual are. For the most important part (taking the photos), a 13-megapixel camera continuously snaps (depending upon your settings), so you’ll have plenty of photos to sort through. Better yet, there’s even a 4K video mode.
The Hover Camera will be available for around $600 this holiday season. Check out the video below.
