Tom Hanks is certainly not one to steer away from danger. His roles in films like Cast Away, Apollo 13 and the recent Captain Phillips have made it quite clear that when you need an actor for a high stress environment, he’s your man. So, naturally it makes sense for Sully, a film depicting the 2009 “Miracle on the Hudson” plane crash, to be a Tom Hanks role.
The film is directed by Clint Eastwood, who is quite the actor and filmmaker himself.
Captain Sullenberger was the chief pilot of the U.S. Airways flight that had to crash-land in the middle of the Hudson River in New York. Miraculously, there every passenger on board was unharmed. However, the story that made international headlines seems to be a little different than the reality of it – as the trailer shows.
Sully hits theaters September 9th.
